Simon has been in the maritime business since 1987 and auditing since 2002.
He ran an Accreditation Organisation for 8 years, managing a team of inspectors who audited over 400 centres annually. Wrote requirements for worldwide implementation. Audited worldwide and assisted national administrations in the implementation of systems and managed the RYA large vessel training department for 8 years.
He represented BSI and EBA on International Standards Committees for the design of the current ISO standard lifejacket.
Previously committee member of the National water safety forum, responsible to the government and part of many MCA/BMF/RNLI/RLSS/RYA working groups to standardise lifejacket use on vessels.
Head of UK small vessel Sea Survival Training for 7 years, training instructors and recog.
Previous committee member of the MCA SEAC working group (Sea Equipment Advisory Committee) and on the Combined Defence Forces committee for maritime safety equipment, including lifeboat, davit launch, MES and POD survival systems. Member of small craft safety advisory committee reporting to government.
The Royal Institute of Navigation awarded him, Fellowship for contributions to Maritime Safety.
